The 20 Best Quotes from Chefs at the 2013 NRA Show in Chicago

By almost every measure, the 2013 NRA Show was the most successful show Steelite has ever seen. Everyone had really great things to say about how nice the booth looked and how innovative the new products were.

It was a privilege to have several chefs masterfully plating food for us during the event. Also, all of the vegetables at our booth were provided by Chef’s Garden–a tremendous resource for chefs and restaurateurs! Chef’s Garden carries a vast range of sustainably grown vegetables and provides them directly to restaurants around the world.

We met a lot of great people in the industry and participated heavily in the conversation on Twitter. Our thanks go out to a few of the other active Tweeters at the show for engaging with us and making it a fun conversation: @foodable, @NRAShow, @RonRuggless, @ItsToni, and @RSMIndex. Thank you for the interaction!

The show provided a unique opportunity to meet with our partners from manufacturers such as WNK, Bormioli Rocco, Crucial Detail, Anfora, Patra, Nambe, Pillivuyt, Rona, Narumi, La Tavola, and Trudeau. It was great to have everyone under one roof showcasing such a dazzling array of tabletop products.

Dining in Chicago was a fantastic experience. We discovered that it was rather difficult to find a place in the city that didn’t have good food. From a culinary perspective, Chicago truly is an inspiring place to be.

Sunday evening,  a special cocktail party was held at the Drake Hotel. There was an excellent turnout, and the party lasted several hours. The theme for the evening was “Steampunk,” and we created several visuals that highlight how Steelite’s products conform to the latest trends. It was a fun time to mingle with industry professionals over great food and drinks.

Steelite was proud to be the official sponsor of the International Wine, Spirits, and Beer Event that was held on Sunday and Monday of the NRA Show. The first 500 attendees on each day received a glass from Bormioli Rocco as they perused an array of fine beverage vendors.

We were also privileged to feature the Modern Mixologist bar tools as a partnership with cocktail master Tony Abou-Ganim. Tony did a few flawless demonstrations during the event, showing attendees how to make the perfect cocktail.

More than buying, selling, meeting, greeting, and–yes–even eating, the 2013 NRA Show was about learning. Along with a few other seminars, we had the privilege of attending almost all of the World Culinary Showcase demonstrations by celebrity chefs from around the world.

Every chef had a unique approach and a charming sense of humor. Much was learned from their insights into culinary arts as well as their general wisdom about life and business. So, as promised in the title of this blog post, we present to you the best twenty quotes we heard from chefs and food service professionals at the 2013 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago…
